Vasant ~ Spring Mosaic by Indian Artists

'Vasant' means springtime in Sanskrit (the ancient classical language of India) and symbolizes happiness, new beginnings, hope, and prosperity! Come celebrate the arrival of the season with us through a mosaic of ART at the Community Hub at the Bridgewater Commons Mall! The space will be transformed into a lively, vibrant, open and elegant art gallery & cultural venue for three days! (Come to the Lower Level of the mall by Macy's.)

We are 21 contemporary local artists (and members of S4A - the South Asian Artists Association of America) who draw inspiration from our Indian heritage and modern cross-cultural life experiences. We will be presenting a wide variety of art including photography, digital art, painting (many styles and traditions), ceramics, sculpture, drawing, and more. It is our pride and joy to be part of this year’s GSAW to promote NJ’s diverse and multicultural artistic landscape!

Our 21 participating artists are:
Anamika Jain, Anamika Sinha, Anjali Wadhwa, Aprajita Lal, Bhavna Segal, Mahmootha Mujeeb Ahmed, Minakshi Chaudhary, Mousumi Banerjee, Nickie Singhar, Nupur Nishith, Parvathi Kumar, Prabha Jha, Prachi Jain, Preeti Singh, Priya Pathak, Ranjana Sayal, Seema Chandane, Shaily Jha, Swagata Chowdhury, Tulika Banerji, and Vijitha Reddy.

Along with viewing art, bring the family for activities and small workshops throughout the weekend to learn about the different art forms. Artists will share their approaches and insight, and you can try some techniques yourself! Please check back here soon for a more detailed schedule of our activities and workshops!

So, come behold and delight in our art, interact with the artists, enjoy workshops, all while supporting local artists!

More about S4A:

S4A is a diverse collective of artists with roots in South Asia now living in the USA who work in a wide variety of media. Founded in New Jersey in 2016 by a small group of artists, the association has since expanded to over 125 members.

With origins in South Asian countries, some members were born in North America, others in South Asia, and others have lived in various countries before making the USA their home. With the group’s tag line of “Creating Confluence, Bridging Cultures”, we draw inspiration from our South Asian heritage, identities, communities, and unique cross-cultural life experiences. We exhibit together throughout NJ to promote and share our work with the public at large.

Our artists' practices explore an array of subject matter and styles, from contemporary to traditional. They are active at both national and international levels, blending cultural heritage with modern expression across various mediums like painting, photography, sculpture, wood burning, beadwork, digital art, ceramics, and more. Through local exhibitions, global collaborations, and outreach programs, the association aims to elevate South Asian artistry and foster a vibrant dialogue between tradition and creativity in the global art landscape.
